A general service is common practice with classical musical instruments.
The wear caused by daily use is addressed to ensure perfect pipe performance.

All surfaces are dressed as well, so that the pipes look as fresh as they sound.
If it’s good enough for oboes and clarinets, then it’s good enough for bagpipes.
